Authentic T34 Cabriolets:

There are three types of T34 Cabriolets: prototypes, production models, & conversions. The prototypes were built by Karmann in mid-1961 to early-1962 and feature a flat top frame design when lowered into the rear area. The production models were built by Karmann in late-1962 and were classified as 1963 model years, featuring central pan reinforcements, a reinforcement metal plate under the rear seat, and rounded door window edges. The conversions were originally Coupes that have been converted into Cabriolets or Roadsters by their owners privately. There are currently 5 original Cabriolets (all in Germany) and 28 conversions (throughout the world).

#1 PRODUCTION T34 CABRIOLET: 1963 341 (0 085 897)
This one was most recently discovered in Oct 2003 in Germany with only 67,900 kilometers (42,000 miles). It's the most authentic 341 and has all the original pieces for the top frame and was repainted only once. It was found by Jorg Fischer in an internet ad. He made a $20,000 offer but it was refused. Jorg feels the T34 will be sold soon to another VW dealers collection in Germany.

#2 PRODUCTION T34 CABRIOLET: 1963 341 (0 091 440)
Here's the T34 Cabriolet at the Karmann Museum in Osnabruck, Germany. This T34 was driven for years to events and was restored (pan-off) in 2007 by Karmann, but it still has several incorrect parts from late-model T34s.
Notice how the top frame is raised off of the body? Sign of a production model ...

#3 PRODUCTION T34 CABRIOLET: 1963 341 (0 091 562)
Here's the 3rd authentic 1963 T34 Cabrio recently owned by Lars Neuffer in Goettingen, Germany. This M341 was kept at Karmann until it was sold to an Osnabruck man in October 1969. Lars found it at an auction of a defunct VW dealership, having been stored since 1976 in their basement! Lars was the high-bidder for it at the low-$20K's in 1997. It was sold in early 2009 to another collector.

#4 PRODUCTION T34 CABRIOLET: 1963 341 (0 093 020)
This is the most recently discovered Cabriolet, found by Jorg Fischer in Germany. Not much is known at this time and there are no photographs of it yet. VW dealer first registered it on 10Jul63 and current owner has owned it since 1984.

#5 PRODUCTION T34 CABRIOLET: 1963 341 (0 104 565)
