EXTERIOR: The body was rust-free when purchased in 2002. The body was stripped in October 2003 and then bodywork & paint was done by vintage VW specialist Jimmy Braxmeyer in San Diego in 2004. The original single-stage enamel Sea Blue L360 was sprayed on the body & interior while Blue-White L289 was sprayed on the roof. The paint was color-sanded to a mirror finish in 2004. BF Goodrich radial thin whitewall tires were bought in 2004 and mounted to powdercoated black original rims. The bumper blades were triple-chrome plated in March 2013.
The nose emblem is original unrestored. The windshield washer squirter is a new reproduction.
The rear bumper blade was rechromed. The bumper guards, license lights, bumper brackets, tail light bases, & rear scripts are original unrestored.Rear lenses are two-toned reproductions. License plate bracket was repainted black. New seals for rear lights, bumper guards, & bumper brackets. Original 1992 Australian license plates are installed.
The front bumper blade was rechromed as were the headlight & fog light rings. The bumper guards, front signal units, & bumper brackets are original unrestored.Dual original horns were restored & tuned. Horn brackets were repainted black. New seals for front signal bases, headlight rings, bumper guards, & bumper brackets. Headlight & foglight reflectors were repainted silver (not resilvered).
